Magnificence!
Lichen a Day
The symbiotic life form of Lichen is not generally thought of as beautiful. Indeed, perhaps, not commonly thought of at all! Here, in a series of one-a-day (more or less) photos, is my attempt to show that beauty. These pics are taken in Central Texas.

16 Days to come...
Last night a really big dead limb fell out of the hackberry tree in the front yard.
It just missed hitting the roof of my car...but I did park under the tree!
Perilous!
Perilous!
In honor of my narrow escape, for the next 16 days I'll be posting photos of
that same limb,
that same limb,
just different sections of it.
And I can't help but coo to myself..."Right in my own front yard"!

Lichen a Day is Back (at least for today)! Bonus shots included!
We've had rain for a few days this week and that's all it takes for our trees to start showering down a little lichen love!
Publishing this series of photos is teaching me about the lichen cycle here in Central Texas. When I first started this last Spring, there were lots of lichen specimens falling on the ground for me to photograph. As the summer drew on and we had sustained hot weather with little rain, the lichen fall tapered off so I decided to institute a hiatus.
Now that the weather is getting cooler, but is by no means anything other than really hot! I don't know if I'll get any really good photos on a regular basis... Well, we'll see...
Here are the bonus shots I promised you!
A black Swallowtail butterfly dining at the red Oxblood Lily Cafe...
in my front yard!
Copper colored "Giant Prairie Lilies"
AND...a close-up!
Gorgeous!

Hiatus...
Dear Readers (whoever and wherever you are)!,
I am taking a break while the weather is so hot! As soon as it's cooler and wetter and my trees start giving me some lichen love, I'll return with more pics!

A collage for Independence Day!
The weather has been very dry here in Central Texas as of late.
So I was very happy to find this lichen twig this morning,
since lichen appears to like coolness and moisture.
All the pics are of the same twig, just many angles.
I hope you enjoy!
